AhlulBayt News Agency - After intense air strikes around the Palmyra region in east Homs, the Syrian Army launched an offensive in the adjacent east Hama ISIS-controlled blob.
As a result of this advance, the Syrian Army seized control of Al-Musherfy, Rajem Sawwan, and Um Suhreej which lay to the south of Jub Al-Jarrah village. If the Syrian Army manages to secure this east Homs/Hama blob that contains dozens of villages, a second supply route to Khanasser could be opened directly through Uqayribat, ISIS’s adminstrative capital in that territory.
In addition to that, such an advance would enable the Syrian Army to assault Raqqa with much more ease and with less fear of harassment and road-cutting from the ISIS groups roaming that region.
Needless to say, this would also permit the Syrian Army to lift the siege off Deir El-Zor with relative ease and without much fear of an ISIS attack that would cut the road again.
